Honestly and compassion is a strength

At a house party in a crowded garden me and Lev were sitting near someone who was being a mean and abusive drunk. I went to the toilet and when I got back I had lost my place and Lev was next to the drunk person.

I thought if he starts on Lev I will push through the crowd to back Lev up. Sure enough after a while the person did turn on Lev and I was just about to intervene, but there was no need due to how Lev handled it.

I don't remember the words, but basically he ignored the insults and assumed that the person was in some kind of pain to behave so badly and asked how he could help. In any other person that might have seemed like a ploy, but Lev was obviously genuine and the person was disarmed and changed tack to telling Lev about their problems and getting sympathy in return.

So far from needing my help he had the strength, compassion and presence to handle the situation in a way that I, and I think many others could never have done.
